8th-Jan-2010 08:40 pm - More Isane progress
Got some more work done. My order from CR's crafts in the mail too, so I can start furring and painting the eyes this coming week.

Carved up the foam and attached it to the balaclava. The bottom jaw turned out a bit too long, so I will be trimming it down some. Also got started threading and brushing out the wool for the neck ruff. It's a little darker than it looks in the photos. The wool does shed, but shouldn't require much more care than a high grade faux fur.

3rd-Jan-2010 05:15 pm - Isane progress 1
First progress images of Isane's head.

Photobucket

Have the balaclava (aka "ninja head" ;3 )sewn. At this point it looks ugly as sin, but it will be covered by fur by the time this is done. I put the seams on the outside for greater comfort.

I also finished sculpting the upper and lower canines and tongue. I will most likely be painting the tongue because the color turned out a bit too bright.

Photobucket

Setting aside foam blocks for carving and waiting for the adhesive to dry.

Acrylic eyes and fur ordered and should be shipped out tomorrow and hopefully here within a week or so.

Total progress- about 8%
1st-Nov-2009 09:12 pm - Halloween
Well, 16 hours straight working on my mate's Repo Man costume and I finished it just in time for Halloween evening.

Sadly the pics just didn't turn out well. I didn't even get a recognizable shot of mine, and trying to photograph his costume made out of black plastic at night was just painful. None of the details came out so it just looks like he's wearing a black garbage bag. All of the nice detail work like the D-rings, the collar, and the detachable sleeves just got lost. :(

10th-May-2009 10:10 am - bah... -_-
Great. I don't get to be with my mate on my actual birthday today or next weeked when I have my party. His stupid family it taking him for both occasions. Today he has to spend all day in town for mother's day and next weekend he's driving to Dallas for his stupid second cousin's graduation. FML -_-

So righto, I can't even visit my parents because they're three hours away and I have no other friends. So I get to spend my entire birthday alone in my apartment. Yay me.
24th-Mar-2009 09:43 pm - Great news!
My grandmother called me last night to inform me that my aunt watched a program on tv and "Apparently there are these people called furries who are desperate for people to make costumes for them!" Yay for me... 9_9

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

Please note:
I make no guarantee that you will like what I make.
What I create will be just for you.
It'll be done this year (year from now, not calendar year)
You have no clue or input into what it's going to be.
I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well. We all can make stuff!

(Please specify whether you want something tangible that can be snail-mailed to you or something digital I can send by e-mail.)

I stumbled this website tonight-
http://l4x9.com/

It's funny. When you are put on the spot it's difficult to come up with anything original to say. I thought about all the things I learned from my psychology degree and various interests I have pursued but nothing seemed sufficient. I wanted to post something that nobody else could possibly say, so here it is. A true experience from my childhood. Enjoy-

When I was growing up I had a record of the Ugly Duckling story. When we played it in our record player it would always skip at the same spot. Where it was supposed to say "Honk, honk, the little goose said...", it instead got stuck in a loop and repeated, "Honk yag boo! Honk yag boo!" until someone got up and moved the needle to the next thread. The phrase somehow evolved into a general expression of disgust within my family. ex "Honk yag boo! The cat threw up on the floor!"

Even now at 24 I catch myself almost using it in public.
